How to post an effective ad

If you are not getting the traffic you thought you should with your ad posting consider the following.

Make your title stand out amongst the rest.
When you create an ad within Equipment Search the title field is one of the key areas that users see first when reviewing ads within the system. Make sure you are capturing their interest with keywords or phrases that are logical for someone looking for that type of equipment.

How effective your ad will be depends on the details you disclose about your product. For example, if you are listing a 2007 VW Jetta as an example not talking about the color, the condition, the options your vehicle has with it may be easily overlooked by someone viewing your ad! As such the value may not be obvious.

Make your listing your own.
Each of us has our own way of describing our vehicle that we are selling. It is quite interesting to see just the variety and creative ways people list items within the system! If you really want your ad to stand out – make it a good read. Take the time to make yours above all others listed the one people would want to buy.

For example: My 2007 Harley just took top honors at a local show and shine this past summer. It really stood out amongst the sea of bikes entered into the competition – With all of the additional chrome…. I think you get the point.

A picture means so much when selling online.

How many images did you put with your ad? It is more then obvious that an ad without a picture means one of two things? Either it is in such bad shape you don’t want to put a picture or ? Never put yourself in that position. Regardless as to the condition people still want to know that what you are selling exists and that it is exactly what you are saying it is!

Imagine getting a catalogue in the mail and no pictures inside it? Do your preparation, get a friend a family member to take images for you so you can post your images promptly with the ad listing. Good quality images go a long way to saving everyone involved with a ton of questions when a picture could have easily pointed it out.

Unlike traditional (almost now archaic), newspaper classifieds (I pick them up at truck stops to start fires with), it is free to post multiple images on Equipment Search. With Equipment Search you can also add PDF documents, Word Docs, and of course excel spreadsheets to your listing. Think about that one for a moment – Would you not want to let people know everything you have for sale on every ad? Increase your chances, take advantage of technology – WE are the only ones who offer this – The only ones!

Finally the most difficult one – The PRICE.

People shop around for the best deal – You would so don’t expect anything different from someone else. If you post an ad with a totally unrealistic number you are only wasting your time. Now that being said – if you have a classic, vintage, antique then quite possibly it could be worth the dollars you are asking. I see ads all the time were someone wants 10 grand more then it is worth? Why go through the effort? You know what I mean! I have sold a lot of personal items directly from this site and I can tell you if the numbers make sense – the product typically sells. One last note: Trying to sell a snowmobile in the summer is a tough sell; plan your sale unless you have no choice but to sell it! Common sense goes a long way here.
